Torch Run License Plates

Show your support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run^® and Special Olympics Illinois in style!

Purchase your Law Enforcement Torch Run^® for Special Olympics Illinois permanent license plate by visiting your local DMV office, calling 1-800-252-8980 or visiting the Illinois Secretary of State's website.  You can also print the attached form and submit it directly to the Secretary of State Vehicle Services Department.

Per Public Act 95-0523, for each original issuance of the Law Enforcement Torch Run^® for Special Olympics Illinois license plate, there will be an application cost of $45 in addition to regular license fees, with $30 going to Special Olympics Illinois. Each renewal will cost an additional $27, with $25 going to the fund.

Thanks to Champaign police officer Tom Frost, who came up with the idea for the license plates. He saw them as a fitting opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the Torch Run and Special Olympics Illinois. Thanks also to Rep. Chapin Rose, a friend of law enforcement and a 2007 plunger at Lake of the Woods, who accepted the challenge of getting the bill passed.
