Illinois Run WITH The Law has the support of the following:

Lisa Madigan, Illinois Attorney General

The law enforcement community in Illinois has long partnered with Special Olympics Illinois to support Lisa Madigan photothe goals and honor the achievements of Special Olympics athletes.  Through the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics, the entire law enforcement community spreads the word about the abilities of individuals with intellectual disabilities, while raising funds to support this worthy cause.

Student athletes and leaders throughout the state demonstrate their commitment to community service in a wide variety of ways.  I’m inviting you to join forces with local law enforcement for one of your community service initiatives this year.  When you “Run WITH the Law,” you are demonstrating respect for all and encouraging athletes of all ability levels.

Marty Hickman, Executive Director of IHSA

The IHSA is proud to partner with Lisa Madigan and Special Olympics Illinois and officially endorse the Marty Hickman photoRun WITH the Law program. Since 1986, the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run® has been building a culture of respect and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The IHSA holds respect, appreciation and acceptance of diversity at the core of its values.

Run WITH the Law presents students with an exceptional opportunity to become more active citizens within their community. It is my hope that students throughout the state will get involved in this valuable initiative. Continually striving to reach one’s true potential, and empowering others to reach theirs, is a message truly worth sharing throughout our schools.

Citizenship is a core value at IESA, encouraging each individual to do their share to make their community better. Participation in this program further allows our youth to represent their school and community in a positive manner, while being united in a common goal.  Together, we can educate members of our communities to recognize and value the contributions of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
