Nancy Hoekstra has been a USTA Official for 12 years. She is a strong advocate for USTA officials’ involvement and training at all levels of Adaptive Tennis competition– local, state, national and world games. Nancy has been an active Special Olympics Tennis Volunteer for 25 years. She has served as teacher; coach; tournament director; Special Olympics Team USA Sport Manager of Tennis; World Games Tennis Official in Dublin, Ireland; North America Tennis Director; 2014 Special Olympics USA Games Technical Delegate and 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games Tennis Assistant Technical Delegate.
Other recognitions for her work include: 2007 Chicago Tennis Patrons Coach of the Year, 2008 Special Olympics Illinois Hero Award Recipient, 2009 National Public Parks Adaptive Division Tennis Tournament Director, and 2011 PTR Humanitarian Award Recipient. Nancy is a PTR and USPTA teaching professional and has taught at Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club since 1988.
Sylvia Gothard is also being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Sylvia runs the facilities that host a number of Special Olympics tennis competitions and works with Nancy Hoekstra. Their generous support has benefited the athletes directly by providing assistance for tennis competition.
