New This Year – Mendota Polar Plunge

You have heard the expression, “Too much of a good thing is not enough”. Well, so have we. That is why we have added another Polar Plunge this season, in Mendota, IL.

This year we are very excited to be hosting the new Mendota Plunge at Lake Mendota on Saturday February 25, 2017. Area 16 has teamed up with the Mendota Police Department and the Illinois State Police District 17 in planning this event. The City of Mendota was also very pleased to be chosen for this fundraiser.

Registration starts at 10am, at the Civic Center located on the north side of the lake.  The plunge will begin at noon with lots of fun taking place for plungers and spectators! We will also hold a Post Plunge Party at the Civic Center immediately after the plunge with awards and lunch. We are encouraging all of our community members to come out and be a part of this great event!

We are already off to a fantastic start with almost 100 plungers signed up and there are still more than 4 weeks to go! We have law enforcement teams, high school teams, community teams, and athletes already signed up to take the plunge on February 25th! The local MTM Recognition office, who is the chosen vendor for our competition awards, has also signed up as a team to take the plunge! We hope to see you at the new Mendota Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois on February 25th! To register, go to plungeillinois.com.
