Willowbrook HS Hosts Send-Off Celebration for SOILL Volleyball Team

Special Olympics Illinois hosted the 2018 Fall Games State Competition on October 28 and 29, where more than 550 Special Olympics Illinois Athletes competed in Volleyball and Equestrian. Fall games are one of nine state sports competitions.

Leading up to the tournament, Willowbrook High School hosted a sendoff celebration for the school’s Special Olympics Illinois Traditional Volleyball team. The Willowbrook Warriors qualified for the state competition by taking home gold in a state qualifying tournament on September 24. The team made school history by becoming the first volleyball team at Willowbrook to qualify. They were ecstatic, all of their hard work and dedication paid off.

The Willowbrook Warriors gave the competition a run for their money at the Fall Games tournament. The Warriors finished in third place in their division. The Athletes and the coaches could not be happier with the team’s performance and resilience. They are excited to start practicing for next year and plan to come back even stronger than they did this year! The Willowbrook Warriors will continue to break grounds throughout the high school and within Special Olympics Illinois.
