#SOILLStandsTogether

The Law Enforcement Torch Run¬ģ (LETR) is the single largest year-round fundraising movement benefiting Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL). Every year, law enforcement personnel across the state dedicate countless hours to help raise funds and awareness for the 23,000 traditional athletes and more than 13,000 Young Athletes participating across Illinois.¬†Traditionally the week leading up to Summer Games, law enforcement personnel across the state would carry the Flame of Hope¬ģ nearly 1,500 miles to its final destination – the Opening Ceremony of Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to change our plans. However, this now allows YOU an opportunity to participate in something typically reserved only for law enforcement personnel.

The Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run is asking¬†EVERYONE¬†(law enforcement, coaches, families, SOILL athletes, sponsors, fans, etc.) to help keep the Flame of Hope¬ģ burning bright by pledging to run/walk/bike two miles during the Special Olympics Illinois Virtual Summer Games week taking place June 9-14. Together, we will unite to support our amazing Special Olympics athletes!

How Does It Work?

The Virtual Torch Run is a great way to support the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois no matter where you are! Participants pledge to walk, run, or bike two miles between June 9 and 14. The best part is you get to pick your own method, path, and pace. How you cover those 2 miles is completely up to YOU!  Participate as an individual or create a team with family, friends, and coworkers. Each participant will receive a printable #SOILLStandsTogether sign to snap a picture with during your efforts.  Share this photo and others from your journey with us on social media by using #SOILLStandsTogether and tagging @SpecialOlympicsIllinois on Instagram and Facebook.

Then tune in to the Virtual Summer Games Torch Run featured at 5:00 PM CT on Saturday, June 13 via the Special Olympics IL and Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run Facebook and Instagram pages for a chance to see your photos highlighted! Although we may be separate at this time, we are one community and we will still STAND TOGETHER!
