Effective for the 2024 Bowling Season, Unified Bowling will be a fully sanctioned division at all sectional tournaments around the state. Unified bowling divisions include Unified bowling doubles (one Special Olympics Illinois athlete and one Unified partner) and Unified bowling teams (two Special Olympics Illinois athletes and two Unified partners).

Those who receive a gold medal in their divisions will advance to the State Bowling Tournament. Unified partners may not be listed as a coach, will need to have a Unified Partner Class A on file, and are subject to the same training requirements as Special Olympics Illinois athletes.

In 2024 and 2025, Unified Bowling will be offered at the sectional bowling tournaments with gold medal advancement to state. There will be no regional for these divisions. Athletes who do not advance to sectionals from the regional are eligible to register with a Unified partner for Unified bowling doubles or with a team for Unified bowling team divisions at the sectional events.

In 2026, athletes competing in traditional bowling divisions will not be eligible for Unified bowling divisions.

We look forward to seeing you on the lanes!
