Meet the 2019 Unified Coaster Challenge Ambassadors

Special Olympics Illinois athlete and Unified Partner, Anna Scholler and Sydney Baumstark are the 2019 Unified Coaster Challenge ambassadors. Anna and Sydney, both Libertyville residents, became friends through Special Olympics. They play on a Unified soccer team called the Libertyville Storm. The girls share a love for soccer and roller coasters.

Anna has been a Special Olympics athlete for several years. She competes in basketball, bocce, bowling, floor hockey, track & field, and soccer. Anna just recently graduated from Libertyville High School.

Sydney is a sophomore at Libertyville high school. She believes being involved in Special Olympics as a Unified Partner is very important. Being a Unified Partner, Sydney has learned the power and positivity of sport.

‚ÄúWe are more similar then we are different, regardless of our ability level. We all have the opportunity to succeed through sport,‚ÄĚ said Sydney.

Anna and Sydney are true thrill-seekers In their free time, you will find Anna and Sydney on their favorite roller coasters, the Raging Bull and X-Flight. Anna and Sydney are honored and excited to be the Unified Coaster Challenge Ambassadors this year.


IDOC Torch of Cash


 

The Illinois Department of Corrections is partnering with Special Olympics Illinois to host Law Enforcement Torch Run Torch of Cash Raffles at their various facilities.

Illinois Department of Correction facilities interested in hosting a Torch of Cash Raffle must apply for a raffle license at their local city hall. The License should be secured under the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois name, NOT IDOC.  Please contact your local government to determine the steps to acquire a raffle license in your municipality.

Torch of Cash Raffle Process

Step 1 ‚Äď Secure Raffle License

IDOC Liaison must apply and be approved for a Raffle License in the municipality they are hosting the drawing in.  Raffle license should be requested under the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois name. Special Olympics EIN #: 36-2922811

Step 2 ‚Äď Notify Special Olympics Illinois

IDOC Liaison must complete this online notification form and upload a copy of the approved raffle license.

Step 3 ‚Äď Host Raffle and Submit Funds

IDOC facility will host a weekly raffle until a winner is selected.  Money raised via raffle sales should be submitted to Special Olympics Illinois via this form each month.  Please note you must indicate Torch of Cash in the event name area at the bottom of the form. Torch of Cash donations will not be credited to your department total until the conclusion of the raffle.

Step 4 ‚Äď Update Special Olympics Illinois each week

IDOC facility liaison must update Special Olympics Illinois of the raffle progress each week via this online form.

Step 5 ‚Äď Select Winner and Follow Payout Policy

Payment will be mailed within 35 business days of Special Olympics Illinois receiving all completed payout documentation (approximately 40 days from the raffle drawing date).

Payouts less than $600

  • Inform winner to allow 30 days to receive their payout from Special Olympics Illinois
  • Complete the Payout Checklist¬†and email to TorchRun@soill.org within 5 business days.
  • Inform winner that payment will be mailed within 35 business days of Special Olympics Illinois receiving all completed payout documentation.

Payouts $600 – $5,000

  • Winner to Complete 2020 W2G Form¬†, include payout amount and ensure signature and date at bottom of each page
    • Winner to keep all copies of W-2 EXCEPT copy D.
    • Mail completed W-2, Copy D & completed Payout Checklist within 5 business days to:

EVENT DETAILS

Six Flag Great America and Special Olympics Illinois have teamed up for the Coaster Challenge on Saturday, September 21. Take the run out of racing & ride your way to the finish line to support the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. Registration is now open for individuals to take on the Coaster Challenge.

Simply register for $25, fundraise, and ride the distance of a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Marathon on Six Flags Great America’s world-class roller coasters.¬†The earlier you register, the more time to work on fundraising. All fundraising must be completed by the event date.

          *Please note: $25 registration fee to reserve your spot to be a Coaster Challenger for 2019.

All Coaster Challenge participants will receive early entry to the park to kick-start their day. Challengers will get VIP access to ride the Whizzer from 9:00-11:00 am, along with the Raging Bull & Max Force from 9:15-11:00 am.

VIP early entry allows participants to get extra laps in before the park opens. All participants will receive a Flash Pass to all roller coasters until 1:00 p.m.

Coaster Challenge participants can choose from four different fundraising levels: each level corresponds to a required fundraising minimum per participant.

Fundraising Levels:

  • Ride the distance of a 5K = $150 fundraising minimum
  • Ride the distance of a 10K = $300 fundraising minimum
  • Ride¬†the¬†distance¬†of a¬†Half¬†Marathon=¬†$500¬†fundraising minimum
  • Ride¬†the¬†distance¬†of a¬†Marathon=¬†$1,000¬†fundraising minimum

NO PACKET PICKUP!
For those who met their minimum fundraising requirement ($150-$100 for season pass holders) by September 4, you will be mailed your parking pass and t-shirt.  IF you have only met the $25 threshold and have the remainder of your donations offline, your parking pass has been sent in the mail and you will receive your shirt upon arrival when you turn in your offline donations.

 

PURCHASE SPECTATOR TICKETS AT A DISCOUNT
Do you have a friend or family member that would like to join you at the event? Spectator tickets can be purchased at a discounted rate by going to www.sixflags.com/greatamerica and entering the word COASTER at checkout (enter the promo code in the top right corner).

***Only those that have registered and fundraised the minimum amounts will be able to ride during 9-11 a.m. and receive the incentives.
