IHSA Unified Track & Field State Meet
Event Date: Thursday, May 26, 2022
Time: 1-5:00pm
Location: Eastern Illinois University O’Brien Field
Location β The games will be held as part of the IHSA State Boys Track and Field Tournament β Charleston, IL. Registered Special Olympics Athletes, Partners and Coaches will be provided with an entrance credential. We ask all teams to arrive at 1pm. We will begin field events (Shot Put and Running Long Jump) following completion of the 1A preliminaries, approx. 2:00-2:30. There will be no spectator fee after 3:30pm. Prior to that point all non-registered individuals will be charged an entrance fee. The meet will conclude approx. 5:00pm as long as there are no weather delays.
Competition Timesβ We will begin competition with the field events at the conclusion of the 1A preliminaries. Once the field events are complete and the track is available, we will move to running events. Anticipated order of events is Shot Put, Running Long Jump, 100 M, 200 M, 400 M, 4×100 M Relay. Expected meet conclusion time is 5pm as long as there are no weather delays. Event order may change based on completion of the Boys 1A Competition.
Divisioning β The meet will be split into 2 divisions based on scores from regional events, submitted scores and ability level. There are two divisions for the meet, we have had some teams become unable to make it with finals and graduation. Unified 1A (North Boone HS, Andrew HS, East St Louis HS) Unified 2A (Plano HS, Limestone HS)
Uniforms β We encourage you to review IHSA Uniform requirements as teams will be expected to follow those requirements. Special Olympics rule adaptions allow for more lenient exceptions in uniforms. This is not the case for IHSA. Please make sure your uniforms are in compliance with all IHSA requirements. The requirements are those of a relay team. Since this is a team event and not individual event, all individuals must match top and bottom.
Travel β All costs associated with travel including meals, accommodations, and bus are the responsibility of the individual school. Please remember that you can apply for outreach funding to help with these costs as necessary. Please let me know if you are in need of an Outreach Opportunity for this event to ensure that it is reviewed prior to the event.
Live Streaming: We are working with staff to provide a live stream of the event.Β Streaming will go straight to the Unified Champion Schools Facebook Page.Β Β You can follow the UCS Facebook Page here for notifications: https://www.facebook.com/UCSIllinoisΒ We will also be highlighting all of the teams that provided a team picture and cutline on the various social media platforms.
