Unless a venue has specific COVID protocols in place, Special Olympics Illinois is following Illinois Department of Public Health and CDC COVID protocols and guidelines. While we are excited to resume in-person events, the health and well-being of our constituents remains our top priority. The Plane Pull features the ultimate tug-of-war competition! Teams raise of up to 20 raise a minimum of $1,000 for the opportunity to test their strength by pulling an United Airlines 737, weighting more than 180,00 lbs, 12 feet as fast as possible. That is right, the plane weighs nearly 90 tons!
Teams compete in one of the following divisions:
- Open Division: Ideal for companies, school teams, clubs, friends and Families
- Public Safety Division: law enforcement, fire fighters, paramedics, EMT, DNR, DOC and military personnel; teams need at least 10 public safety competitors to qualify for this division
- Fitness Division: CrossFit, gyms or other fitness groups
- Hotel Division: solely for groups in the hotel industry
Divisions that do not have a minimum of 5 teams registered by the day of the event will be absorbed into the Open Division. Click here to download the event flier.
