Region E Nine-Hole and Unified Golf – LOCATION CHANGE

Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to make a location change for the 2023 Region E 9 Hole and Unified Golf Competition. The competition will remain on Tuesday, July 25th but will be held at Chicago Heights EAST Golf Club (Glenwood Rd, Chicago Heights, IL 60411).

We truly apologize for the inconvenience and we are very grateful to the Chicago Heights EAST Golf Club for working with us on such short notice. We are hopeful that by keeping the competition date the same and having an extra hour in the morning to get things started, everyone will be able to make this location change work.

What Is Golf?

Golf provides Special Olympics Illinois athletes the opportunity to develop their golf skills by participating in individual skills competition, three-hole and six-hole competitions. Golfers who have the ability to put all of the skills together can participate in nine-hole competition. Unified golf is also offered, which pairs those with and without intellectual disabilities together to compete in a nine-hole competition.

As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped into competition divisions according to ability level, age and gender when appropriate.

Athletes in Illinois who participate in golf compete locally at region qualifying events. Athletes are then eligible to advance to the State Golf Tournament, which is held in Decatur each September.
