What is the Cardboard Boat Regatta?
“Sail Away” with Special Olympics Illinois and the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run
Join us on September 3rd at Sheedy Shores WineGarden at 1pm for the 3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta benefiting the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois, Presented by Jane Hay Sales and Staging Team and The Real Estate Group. The day will also include live music, onsite food trucks, vendors and an exciting show as our participants sail or sink for Special Olympics Illinois! Registration must be completed by 5pm on Friday, September 1st.
This event challenges participants to design, build and navigate boats made entirely of cardboard. The crafty cardboard creations then sail (or sink) as they compete for a variety of awards including “best design”, “fastest boat” and “fastest sinker”.
Who can participate?
Registration is open to all amateur boat builders – young and old! Register crews in categories of 13 and under or 14+. Registered teams can check in starting at 11:30am on September 3rd and the Regatta will begin at 1pm. Registration is $50 per boat.
