What is the Cardboard Boat Regatta?

“Sail Away” with Special Olympics Illinois and the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch us for on September 4th at Sheedy Shores WineGarden for the 2nd Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta, Presented by Jane Hay Sales and Staging Team, benefiting the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. The day will also include live music, on-site food trucks, vendors and an exciting show as our participants sail or sink for Special Olympics Illinois!

This event challenges participants to design, build and navigate boats made entirely of corrugated cardboard. The crafty cardboard creations then sail (or sink) as they compete for a variety of awards including best design, fastest boat and fastest sinker.

Registration is open to all amateur boat builders – young and old! Registration is $50 per boat. Register crews in categories of 13 and under or 14+

All Registered Participants will Receive an exclusive Special Olympics Regatta Gift on the day of the event.  Winners will be awarded in each category for “Best Design”, “Fastest Boat” and “Fastest Sinker”.
