Region K Spring Bowling – Harrisburg

COVID Procedures

All participants should self-screen prior to arriving at this event and should remain home if feeling unwell or displaying coronavirus symptoms.

Vaccination is not required to attend in person events.

SOILL will have hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes/spray and other cleaning/sanitizing products on-site.

Please check with your Region staff on the status of spectators attending competitions.  With a few exceptions, only registered athletes, coaches and partners are allowed at these events.  It is very important you relay to all parents and guardians the importance of only allowing registered persons into the event.

Special Olympics Illinois is committed to providing the best athlete, volunteer, coach and supporter environment possible.  While we are excited to resume in-person events, the health and well-being of our constituents remains our top priority.  All of our in person events follow the COVID-19 recommended IDPH and CDC guidelines.

What is Bowling?

Bowling is perhaps the most popular sport in Illinois. Bowling competition is conducted using a traditional format. However for those of lower ability or with physical disabilities, bowling has been modified by utilizing a ramp on the approach.

As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped into competition divisions according to ability level, age and gender when appropriate.

Athletes in Illinois who participate in bowling compete locally at Region Qualifying events. Gold medal winners are then advanced to Sectional Qualifying competition. Gold medal winners are then eligible to advance the State Bowling Championships held in Peoria in December.

• Singles competition
• Doubles Competition
• Team Competition

Developmental

• Ramp singles (ramp bowlers may also enter doubles and team competition as part of a traditional team)

Competition Information

Region K Spring Bowling at Harrisburg will only offer singles bowling.

March 22nd – Adult divisions

March 23rd – School-aged divisions

Event Details

Agency Registration is from 8:30 am – 9:30 am
Opening Ceremonies are at 9:45 am
Competition will begin at 10:00 am
Please have athlete on the assigned lanes with their balls and bowling shoes on before Opening Ceremonies.

Equipment

Athletes may bring their own bowling balls or shoes if they have them.

Awards

Awards will be presented after divisions are complete in the awards area.
