Region K Golf Clinic – CANCELLED

Golf provides Special Olympics athletes the opportunity to develop their golf skills by participating in Individual Skills Competition, 3-Hole and 6-hole competitions. Golfers who have the ability to put all of the skills together can participate in 9-hole competition. Unified golf allows for athletes and their non-disabled peers to form teams in 9-hole competition.

Golf Individual Skills Clinic – 7 Individual Skills will be demonstrated with athletes and coaches participating in training activities.

7 Individual Skills will be setup using 2 putting greens, the driving range and open areas. Restrooms are available at the clubhouse.

  • Team Check-in 1:00-1:15 pm – Athletes will be divided into small groups of 2 or 3 and moved to each of the first 4 skills locations, along with a metal folding chair that the athletes will take with them as they rotate through the skills. Coaches will be available to help any athlete that cannot carry their own chair.
  • 1:15 – 2:30 (2) Clinicians will rotate through each of the 4 skills where the athletes are seated and demonstrate the skill.  Once the skill has been demonstrated athletes will then continue to practice the skill. As each small group completes the skill, they will then rotate through the 4 skills.
  • 2:45 – 4:00 The same process will be repeated for the final 3 skills.

Equipment will be provided for this clinic. Each skills station will have clubs and balls for each person in each of the small groups.  Equipment will be cleaned before the next group in the rotation.

There will be no divisioning. Certificates of Completion will be presented individually to athletes.

Bottled water will be provided along with a factory sealed snack. A no-touch trash receptacle will be available to dispose of trash.

It is very important you relay to all parents and guardians the importance of only allowing registered persons into the event.
