Region K Spring Bowling – Mt. Vernon – School Age Divisions
What is Bowling?
Bowling is perhaps the most popular sport in Illinois. Bowling competition is conducted using a traditional format. However for those of various abilities, bowling has been modified by utilizing a ramp on the approach.
As in all Special Olympics Illinois sports, athletes are grouped into competition divisions according to ability level, age and gender when appropriate.
Athletes in Illinois who participate in bowling compete locally at region qualifying events. Gold medal winners are then advanced to sectional qualifying competition. Gold medal winners are then eligible to advance the State Bowling Championships held in Peoria in December.

Developmental
- Ramp singles (ramp bowlers may also enter doubles and team competition as part of a traditional team)
Competition Information
The Region K Spring Bowling Event in Mt. Vernon is for student divisions.
Parents and families are welcome to attend.
Facility Information
We will have use of the whole facility for the alloted time.
Event Details
Agency Registration will be from 9:00 am to 9:30 am.
Opening Ceremony will begin at 9:45 am.
Competition will start at 10:00 am.
Please have athletes on the assigned lanes with their balls and bowling shoes on before Opening Ceremony.

Equipment
Athletes may bring their own bowling balls or shoes.
Awards
Awards will be presented in or near the party room.
Concessions
Lunch will be provided for athletes, coaches, and volunteers. Concessions will also be available throughout the event.
