COVID Procedures
All participants should self-screen prior to arriving at this event and should remain home if feeling unwell or displaying coronavirus symptoms.
Vaccination is not required to attend in person events.
SOILL will have hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes/spray and other cleaning/sanitizing products on-site.
Please check with your Region staff on the status of spectators attending competitions. The decision on allowing spectators is based on the facility being used for the competition, the rules they have and the amount of people above the number of registered athletes and coaches they can safely accommodate. It is very important you relay to all parents and guardians if spectators will be allowed at this competition.
Special Olympics Illinois is committed to providing the best athlete, volunteer, coach and supporter environment possible. While we are excited to resume in-person events, the health and well-being of our constituents remains our top priority. All of our in person events follow the COVID-19 recommended IDPH and CDC guidelines.

What is State Flag Football?
State Flag Football is 1 of 13 state sports competitions. It is the championship level competition for those participating in flag football and Unified flag football. State Flag Football is a 2 day event usually held the first weekend of November in Peoria. The State Flag Football Tournament includes approximately 185 athletes, 10 Unified partners, 60 coaches and 100 volunteers. State Flag Football is hosted at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria, IL.
Competition Information
State Flag Football is a stand-alone competition and serves as a showcase for our Flag Football athletes to demonstrate the skills they have learned throughout the year.
Facility Information
Louisville Slugger Sports Complex has 3 field we will have access to.
Event Details
All times listed below are tentative and subject to change once event specific schedules are determined. For a final schedule please check the Supporting Documents section close to competition day.
- Saturday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Sunday: 8:00am – 2:00pm
Additional activities include an Opening Ceremony, a dinner and an athlete entertainment activity on Saturday night, family registration and souvenir sales.
