Coaches Interest Form
Coaching Special Olympics athletes requires a level of dedication that goes beyond that of one-time event volunteers. Coaches are required to take a General Orientation session and sports specific Certified Training Courses to become certified coaches with Special Olympics Illinois. Coaches will also need to be available two or more times a week to train with their athletes. Athletes are required to have trained at least 8 weeks before competing at a Special Olympics event. As a Special Olympics Illinois coach, you will also be responsible for coaching and chaperoning your athletes at local and state competitions. Coaches are also responsible for submitting their team’s entry forms prior to competition to their agency by specific deadlines.

By filling out the following form, you are expressing interest only in becoming a Special Olympics Illinois coach. Your application will be reviewed by one of our Regional Training Managers to determine suitability and you will be contacted for follow-up to see if there is a fit for you in your Area. Filling out the form does not, however, guarantee that you be able to coach for Special Olympics Illinois.
