Getting Started!
You’ve pledged to take on the thrill of the 10th anniversary of Coaster Challenge – how awesome! See below how you can spread the word, raise awareness for the event, and take your fundraising to the next level.
First Step: Select your distance. Coaster Challenge has four different incentive levels that you can aim to complete:
- Raise a minimum $150 to ride 5k on the coasters
- Raise a minimum $300 to ride 10k on the coasters
- Raise a minimum of $500 to ride a half marathon on the coasters
- Raise a minimum of $1,000 to ride a marathon on the coasters
Second Step: Alright, you’ve selected your distance. Now it’s time to spread the word. Whether it’s a simple story post on instagram or a dedicated post on Facebook, getting the word out is incredibly important. Below you will find sample posts and graphics that you can utilize to up your social media game and leverage your fundraising. Remember, you can always go further! Just because you reach your goal doesn’t mean you need to stop fundraising!
Third Step: Ride the roller coasters and have blast at Six Flags Great America!

This September, I will be participating in the 2024 Coaster Challenge! This year marks the 10th anniversary of this fundraiser and we’re trying to make it the BIGGEST one yet. Coaster Challenge allows you to ride roller coasters at @Six Flags Great America in support of the athletes of @Special Olympics Illinois. This organization provides year-round competitive sports opportunities, health programming, leadership and developmental training for athletes throughout the state. With your help, we can ensure those with intellectual disabilities have access to the resources needed to make a difference in their lives.
