The 2019 LETR Kickoff hosted on February 1st, 2019 promises to be the best to date, providing a more interactive and exciting experience to all attendees. A variety of sessions will be offered, covering topics from fundraising best practices, athlete engagement, working with individuals with disabilities, social media engagement, and much more! This is also a unique opportunity to network with Torch Run officers throughout the state! All law enforcement personnel are invited to attend. There is no registration fee and lunch will be provided.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan is a long-time supporter and champion of the Special Olympics movement. Her involvement and dedication to the athletes has been tremendous. Not only has she participated in numerous events, directly supporting the athletes, including Law Enforcement Torch Run, Summer Games, Dunkin Donuts Cop on a Rooftop, the Inspire Greatness Gala, and most recently, the Commemorative Torch Run at the 50th Anniversary Celebration in Chicago, she has also played a pivotal role in improving the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities throughout her 16 year tenure as Attorney General.

IACP Incoming President
This fall, Steve Casstevens, Chief of Buffalo Grove Police Department, will be installed as the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Chief Casstevens is a longtime, key supporter in the Torch Run movement. The IACP is the world’s largest and most influential professional association of police leaders.
Julie Alderman is an autism trainer and consultant, who has spent her career working with individuals with disabilities. She is currently contracted with the Illinois Law Enforcement training and standards board to provide training to Crisis Intervention Teams throughout the state.

We will be hosting a hospitality suite in the Brickkyard 6 conference room at the Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center on Thursday, January 31st. This event is scheduled from 8 p.m. – midnight, so if you’re in town, please stop by!
65 rooms have been reserved for Thursday, Jan. 31st, at a special rate of $109 (plus tax). Reservations can be made by calling the Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center at 309-664-6446 and asking for a room in the Torch Run block. Rooms must be reserved by Jan. 10, 2019.
Law Enforcement Torch Run Merchandise Order Form
Departments are encouraged to order Torch Run merchandise to sell as part of their 2019 fundraising efforts. No cash is required up front when ordering merchandise. Special Olympics Illinois requires a minimum donation of $20 per T-shirt, $15 per hat and $5 per pin.
While there is no cost to your department when ordering merchandise there is a cost to our LETR program. Due to this, merchandise distribution will be tracked to help us avoid an excess inventory at the end of the year. If needed, departments may order additional merchandise throughout the year.
This year, LETR is unveiling the new and improved way of securing merchandise through a new partnership with Will Enterprises. To secure the merchandise you would like to sell throughout the year, please visit the link below!
