Manager – Development, Law Enforcement Torch Run


 

Position Overview

Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL) seeks an organized, dynamic, and service-minded team member to support the organization’s partnership with Law Enforcement through the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which generates significant revenue and public awareness for the mission and programs of SOILL.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain first-rate customer service as the front-line contact for LETR volunteers; develop and nurture relationships with statewide law enforcement representatives
  • Management of logistical aspects of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), including the creation and maintenance of LETR collateral materials and communications
  • Responsible for concurrently coordinating and managing the implementation of several projects/events while recruiting, engaging and motivating volunteers
  • Produce ongoing reports related to LETR generated revenues and expenses; monitor and communicate trends on LETR agency recruitment and retention
  • Oversight of statewide fulfillment of LETR merchandise and incentives
  • Provide on-site support at LETR events and meetings
  • Meet or exceed established revenue and event goals and support the entire Special Olympics Illinois team with LETR organization and management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years of professional experience in marketing, special events or non-profit fundraising
  • Strong background in event and volunteer management
  • Excellent planning, strategic thinking, problem solving and communications skills are essential
  • Ability to influence and engage a wide range of constituents and build long-term relationships
  • Superior organizational skills and high motivation; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently without close oversight, but also a team player who productively engages with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside of Special Olympics Illinois
  • High energy and passion for Special Olympics mission
  • Excellent, adaptive computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products; experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM platform a plus

Work Schedule

  • Based in the State Headquarters office in Normal, IL
  • Must have ability to travel statewide as position demands
  • Monday through Friday; position requires work and travel outside of normal business hours
  • Occasional on-site management or attendance required at events, both outdoor and indoor
  • Reports to Senior Director – Development, Law Enforcement Torch Run
