New Staff – December 2014
The following people have joined Special Olympics Illinois or received new assignments within the organization:
Previously, Dill worked for the City of Bloomington as a member of the Support Staff team. There, she was responsible for assisting customers over the phone, accepting payments for city services, monitored databases and worked with various software programs and websites.
Dill graduated from Lincoln College in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree. She has participated in the Miller Park Polar Plunge for the past four years with the McLean County Missfits Roller Derby League.
Trent C. Geiger has been named the new Northwestern/Area 1 Manager. This part-time position is responsible for assisting Area Director Debbie Kelly in managing Special Olympics activities including training, competition, fundraising and administration for the Area.
Currently, Geiger works for Sub Source Inc, as production coordinator. He is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the day-to-day operations of a metal finishing production facility.
Geiger has been involved with Special Olympics for as long as he can remember. He was assistant athletic director for a local residential provider in Rockford for almost 10 years. He has also been involved with many Northwestern/Area 1 committees including the Polar Plunge and Spring Games committees.
Allison Nichols has been named Starved Rock/ Area 16 Director. She is responsible for managing Special Olympics Illinois activities including training, competition, fundraising and administration for the Area.
Nichols previously was teacher’s aide at John F. Kennedy School. For the past 10 years, she also has been working with a company that does a summer concert series to raise money for local schools and organizations.
Nichols received a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Northern Illinois University. She has been a Special Olympics Illinois volunteer for the past two years.
Jacquelyn Yon has been named Southeastern/Area 14 Manager. This part-time position is responsible for assisting Area Director Rhonda Knight in managing Special Olympics activities including training, competition, fundraising and administration for the Area.
Yon currently works part-time at CVS as a pharmacy technician. Previously, she worked as an individual and classroom aide at Brownsville School in Carmi, where she coached various Special Olympics sports.
When she isn’t coaching, Yon volunteers at Southeastern/Area 14 events and she recently joined the Area Committee.
