Polar Plunge

The 2021 Polar Plunge season will run from Saturday, February 20 through Saturday, March 27.  Registration is scheduled to open on Tuesday, December 8.  All proceeds collected by plungers benefit the more than 23,000 traditional athletes and 13,000 Young Athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.

Plunge At Home

New this year – Special Olympics Illinois is excited to provide Plungers with the brand-new Plunge At Home option. You can register to Plunge At Home in support of the Plunge location nearest you or click the general At Home Polar Plunge option to support the state-wide event. This year, it’s not WHERE you Plunge, or HOW you Plunge, but THAT you Plunge.

At this time, we are hopeful that in-person plunges will take place across the state wherever possible. Our Polar Plunge team has been hard at work adapting the plan of action for each location in order to provide a safe, socially distanced environment for everyone in the case that we can plunge in person. Availability will vary by location, and information will be communicated as it becomes available in early 2021.
