Staff Updates – September 2014
The following people have joined Special Olympics Illinois or received new assignments within the organization:
SOILL has named Heather Davis the new Area Director of West Central/Area 11 in Quincy. She is responsible for managing Special Olympics activities including training, competition, fundraising, and administration for the Area.
Davis previously worked at QMC in Quincy as a health educator to motivate clients in their wellness goals. Prior to that, she was employed for more than a decade at Quincy University working on leadership development, staff training and education. Davis also was in charge of overseeing all aspects of their residence and life program.
Davis received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Quincy University.
Jim Fitzpatrick has been named the new Director – Development, Torch Run Marketing and Community Relations in Normal. He is responsible for planning, developing and implementing effective communications and community relations that increase awareness and support of Torch Run and other Special Olympics events.
Previously, Fitzpatrick worked for WJBC radio station in Bloomington, where he served as a Program Director and the afternoon drive talk show host. While working at WJBC, Jim and the station received many awards, including Special Olympics Illinois’ Outstanding Media in 2010.
Fitzpatrick is not new to Special Olympics Illinois. He has been an active volunteer for the past 19 years. He has been co-emcee at Opening Ceremonies for Summer Games and was a member of the Public Relations Statewide Task Force.
Jim has a bachelor’s degree in sociology, and minor in law enforcement and justice administration, from Western Illinois University, Macomb.
Allison Ptak has joined SOILL as the Administrative Assistant- Marketing and Development in Lombard. She is responsible for assisting the Northern Regional Office team in various support duties, and assisting with day-of duties at events.
Previously, Ptak was the Director of Marketing and Client Relations for Peskind Law Firm in St. Charles. Before that, she was a Fundraising and Development intern for Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and she was also previously a communications/public relations intern for the state office in Normal.
Ptak is a graduate of Illinois State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in communications.
Dan Conley has a new job assignment as Director – Technology and Online Resources at the Northern Regional Office in Lombard.
Jordan Feldman also has a new job assignment as Area Director for North Suburban Cook/Area 18 in Lincolnshire.
